When you don't know who Hoobastank is until you read about them in an interview with Le Tigre. (Kathleen Hanna said they sucked.) For years now, I've found myself gravitating away from the Beatles and towards artists like Le Tigre, Ani Difranco, Tori Amos, and Yoko Ono (irony intended) because these gutsy femmes confront, write about, and give interviews about issues that I care about, from everything from date rape to the war in Iraq to Michael Moore.
