And then, I am you. We have all become your imaginary friend-- wanting to save you from the death camps that lay in your future: every word you utter closes in on your death. We are the spirits of the afteworld, you are a calm echo imbued with the pathos of our rage-- did we haunt you in your few solitary moments? did our faces wink back at you from the mirror in which you regarded yourself in the candlelight the way one regards a pearl at the bottom of the ocean watching the diluted strains of light ripple across it through layers and layers of water, small white and winking and telling you you would be remembered as a calm echo that smiles at us from the paperbacks strewn across dim, dusty opulent rooms in which we each find ourselves in our solitary pale mornings of aftermath -Providence, RI, 1998 "I shall be released" -Bob Dylan "the only answer is armed revolution." -my favorite revolutionary, uttered in his parents' livingroom while sitting next to his beautiful girlfriend, smoking a cigarette (of course!), in reference to the US's rather "fascist" (sorry, mom) current regime. love you, sweet, your best violin student (hey, art is revolution, too!) 7:47 a.m. - 2003-05-19 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
